How to Find the Best Price on eBay

Shopping on eBay is fun. You may be able to get some of the best deals available in the cyber space here. Most of the time you will be successful in locating the item you intended to buy but finding the best price on eBay is an art.

Sometimes you realize after buying an item that there was yet a better buy. The fault, however, is not yours. It so happens that the search engine of eBay fails to procure the lowest available price due to multiple reasons. Sometimes the seller unintentionally lists his item on the wrong spot of the eBay store; and, sometimes you enter wrong keywords in the search box, or, only search the item in one specific sections of eBay, where unfortunately the seller had not listed his item.

The good news is that eBay comes with an auto search engine that lists the items that you had been searching for somewhere on its web pages. But to get to those items you will need to do a little bit of work.

Recently i purchased an electronic item on eBay and after making the payment i was taken to a page that displayed exactly the same item at a surprisingly cheaper price. I failed to understand in the first place why this item was not displayed in the manual search that I performed. I thus began my research on how to locate such cheaper items prior to the completion of purchasing the final one.

To know how to get the best price on eBay follow these steps:

Step 1
Type in the main search box of eBay the item you are looking for. Avoid using very specific terms. For instance if you are buying 'AF-Nikon 20 MM f/2.8 Nikkor Lens' just type in 'Nikon 20mm lens'. Make sure you search under 'All Categories'.

Step 2
Narrow your search by checking the boxes on the left hand columns of the search result page. For instance, check 'new' if you only want to buy a new item; check 'Buy it Now' if you only want to purchase using this option; so on and so forth.

Step 3
Sort the search results by 'Price + Shipping: lowest first'. By default Ebay will list the results by 'Best Match'.

Step 4
Add the items that you are interested in to your 'Watch List'.

Step 5
Open your watch list under 'My eBay' and click on at least one of them to open its auction page. Surprisingly, this process triggers the ebay's automatic search engine and all of the best priced deals available on eBay for this item are automatically listed at the bottom of your 'Watch List' page under the heading 'How about these?.

Step 6
Click on the link 'See All Items' to see all the available deals. Keep on adding the best priced items to you watch list for a later review and purchase.
